Christians have lived in the Holy Land since the first Pentecost. Yet today, they are mostly forgotten, ignored, or dismissed. In Gaza, they and their Muslim neighbors are enduring immense suffering, with at least 50,000 killed. There has never been a more important time for us to come together to hear and include their voice.
Jeff will share some background and firsthand experiences of the Catholic Church’s lived experience in Gaza. Jeff chairs the Catholic Advisory Council of Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP.org), an NGO with advisory status at the U.N. He serves on the Board of the Caritas Baby Hospital Foundation (Bethlehem) and coordinates a support program for Holy Family School and summer camp in Gaza.
His book, A Great Cloud of Witnesses: The Catholic Churches Experience in the Holy Land, collects 70 years of the Catholic Church’s statements on the situation in the Holy Land. He has also edited with the Justice & Peace Commission of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land, their book, Is Peace Possible? (available on Amazon)
